Now that winter is coming we have launched this small game in order to brighten everybody’s mood. We might have less daylight hours….but we will never lose our smile!

Do you know where these engineering / architecture works are located? I’m sure they’re familiar to you or you've even visited them. This small game-like article tests your knowledge of these relevant constructions in engineering throughout history. With a brief description and an image... Will you be able to know which one is it?

1. Arch-gravity concrete dam, located on the Colorado River, on the border between the states of Arizona and Nevada (USA). It is located 48 km southeast of Las Vegas.

2. With 106 floors (5 underground ones and 101 above ground level), the needle that crowns its 508 meters high, makes it the eighth tallest skyscraper in the world and the largest ecological skyscraper in the world.

4. Suspension bridge that connects Honshū with Awaji Island, crossing one of the busiest straits in the world (more than 1000 boats daily). It has a length of 3911 m and its central span is 1991 m. It is supported by two cables that are considered the most resistant and heavy in the world.

8. Unmistakable engineering work located in Aveyron (France). The structure reaches a maximum height of 343 meters above the Tarn River, and a length of 2460m. About 3000 people worked on this project, which cost almost 400 million euros. It was designed by the French engineer Michel Virlogeux.

9. Bridge over the Douro River that connects Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia. It was inaugurated in 1886 and is one of the emblematic places of the city. Based on the project of the German engineer Théophile Seyrig, who was a partner of the famous Gustave Eiffel, with whom he founded the company Gustave Eiffel and Co.

10. Cantilever railway bridge that has been described as one of the most recognizable landmarks in Scotland. It is 2.5 km long, and its double railway track rises up to 46 m above the water level. It consists of two main sections of 520 m, two lateral sections of 200 m, 15 sections of approximation of 51 m each and five of 7.6 m. Each main section contains two central corbels of 104 m in height, resting on pillars whose diameter is 21 m.
