Concentrated load distribution - Calculation example of the tie reinforcement

The following image shows the calculation of the reinforcement needed to distribute the load using a nonlinear model and compares it with the theoretical result according to Eurocode 2 (EN1992-1), section §6.5.3 (3)
From the above, we can conclude:
• The order of magnitude is similar in the nonlinear calculation and the theoretical value.
• The nonlinear calculation shows lower values than the theoretical ones, so we are on the safety side by applying the Eurocode.
• We have verified that increasing the size of the plate does not decrease the reinforcement as much as predicted by the Eurocode. This seems to indicate that the larger the plate size, the more conservative the Eurocode is.
We remind that these are the results of a particular case with given geometry and reinforcements. These conclusions may vary with different geometry, and it is the engineer's responsibility to ensure the accuracy of their calculations.
