The following image shows how the required reinforcement varies for the depth under concentrated loads. Eurocode 2 (EN1992-1), section §6.5.3 (3), provides the amount of reinforcement to be provided. We saw in the image Concentrated load distribution - Tie-reinforcement following EC-2 (1992-1) how this reinforcement is necessary to ensure a diffusion of the concentrated loads according to the strut and tie model of the Eurocode.
Can be concluded as follows: Partial distribution • For partial distribution, the ratio a/b plays an important role. The demand goes from T=0.25F (a=0) to T=0 (a=b) Total distribution • For total distribution b is not limiting the reinforcement. The demand goes from T=0.25F (a=0) to T=0 (a=1.4h). • For a given h, the demand depends on the size “a” of the application area. The bigger “a”, the smaller the required reinforcement
