Concrete density as a function of its reinforcement
August , 18th 2024 | Via: Prontubeam | Seen: 798 times
This image shows how the density of concrete varies as a function of its reinforcement. As we can see, using 25 kN/m³ would not be conservative for certain reinforcement ratios.
These values are based on the weight of the reinforcements provided in the table "Cross-sectional area by number of rebars (cm2)". These values are based on the following assumptions:
[1] The unreinforced concrete is considered to have a density of 24 kN/m³ and the reinforcement 7850kg/m³.
[2] ρ is the total reinforcement area divided by the concrete area per direction, considering the same reinforcement in the top and bottom layers.
[3] These values do not consider neither the shear reinforcement nor minimum reinforcement.
